Basic Sea Survival - Course

  • Aim:
    The aim of this course is to provide offshore personnel with the knowledge and skills necessary to care for themselves and others in sea survival situations for an indefinite period of time and to participate to the maximum extent in their own rescue. This program meets and exceeds the standards put forth by the International Association of Sea Survival Training (IASST). The course includes the psychology of survival, life saving appliances, actions prior to abandonment, survival at sea and rescue techniques. The program consists of classroom sessions, pool exercises, active participation in practice drills and a survival exercise at sea.

Basic First Aid / CPR Course

  • Aim & Objectives:
    • To give information and heighten awareness of the essential first and principles
    • To give students the opportunity to practice these essential skills.
    • Provides the student with an understanding of the function of the respiratory system.
    • Provides the student with an understanding of the function of the circulatory system.
    • Enables the student to carry out a systematic assessment of the casualty and to ensure the nothing is overlooked
    • Enables the student to recognize the need for and have the ability to perform emergency life support techniques. Recognition of obstructed airway and choking management.
    • Enables the student to recognize and manage internal and external bleeding.
    • Enables the student to recognize and manage the unconscious casualty.

Basic Fire Fighting course

  • Aim:
    The ability of a worker to effectively extinguish a small fire can be the difference between a small incident and a major accident costing millions in damage and lost production time.

    This course is designed for workers who are potentially exposed to a firefighting hazard. Students will learn the basic principles of fire fighting with handheld fire extinguishers. The classroom sessions cover basic fire theory, extinguisher capabilities and limitations, extinguisher operation, application techniques and recharge and basic maintenance of extinguishers. Exercises on the fire ground include using various handheld extinguishers to fight class A & B fires.

Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET)

  • Aim:
    The aim of this course is to train students to react to and to survive a helicopter ditching at sea. The training is comprised of classroom sessions on aspects of offshore helicopter operations, safety and survival equipment, procedures for ditching preparation, upright helicopter evacuation, and inverted (underwater) egress techniques. The practical aspect of the course is surface and underwater evacuation exercises conducted in theShallow Water Egress Trainer  (SWET). The SWET utilizes functional replicas of the emergency exits installed in the helicopters currently flying offshore in Indonesia. This gives the student realistic and 'State of the Art' training with the same type of equipment they will be functioning in a real situation.

BASIC OFFSHORE SAFETY EMERGENCY TRAINING (BOSET )


Course Aim :
To provide participants with survival and emergency training in order to prepare them
for an emergency in an offshore environment. Day 1 - Sea Survival, Day 2 - Basic Fire
Fighting & Introduction to Breathing Apparatus, Basic Life Support.
Course Objectives:
By the end of the two days programme, participants will have an understanding and a
thorough knowledge of the following:
• Sea Survival skills and techniques • Using, don & doff breathing apparatus
• Life raft procedures & management • Basic Life-support - EAR, CPR,
• Basic Fire Fighting theory
DRABC's protocols
• Practical use of fire extinguishers, fire
blankets
Competency :
All participants must demonstrate the ability to egress an upturned HUET module
unassisted, demonstrate the effective use of fire extinguishment mediums and conduct
EAR and CPR in accordance with appropriate internationally recognized standards. All
participants must complete a questionnaire in order to pass the course.
Method Of Training :
This course is conducted in two phases - 2 days
Day One
Course module is guidelines set with E&P Forum, UKOOA, OPITO, IMO
-STCW'95 & AMSA for Sea Survival Course
Day Two
Consist of basic emergency training including Fire Fighting and using,
don & doff breathing apparatus.
The basic life support course with guideline set of International Red
Cross.

This training can be conducted at remote locations with sufficient resources such as a
swimming pool and a suitable open area for fire training.
Pre-Requisite :
All participants must demonstrate an appropriate level of medical fitness with a
clearance form before participating in the practical sessions

Tropical - BASIC OFFSHORE SAFETY  INDUCTION EMERGENCY TRAINING (T-B.O.S.I.E.T)

Course Aim :
To provide participants with survival and emergency training in order to prepare them
for an emergency in an offshore environment. Day 1 – HUET & Sea Survival , personel
transfer & lifesaving & protective equipment, Permit to Work System, Accident
Reporting Procedures,
Day 2 - Basic Fire Fighting & Introduction to Breathing
Apparatus, Basic Life Support.

PERSONAL SURVIVAL TECHNIQUES (STCW95)
COURSE CONTENT


On completion of this activity, participants will be able to demonstrate a competence in
the theory and practice of the following:
• Types of life-saving appliances normally carried on ships
• Equipment in Survival Craft
• Location of personal life-saving appliances
• Principles concerning survival at sea including:

COMPETENCY
Participants are required to pass an assessment of practical skills and a written or

PRE REQUISITE
Seafarers are required to be medically fit as per Regulation 1/9 of STCW95.
COURSE DURATION
This course is conducted over two (2) days.
METHOD OF TRAINING
Classroom theory sessions followed by practical periods. Resource requirements are
classroom and associated equipment and access to a swimming pool, lake or sea.

HYDROGEN SULPHIDE (H2S) SAFETY


Course Aim:
To provide participants with an understanding of the hazards associated with H2S, and
the confidence to enable them to work safely in a potential H2S environment.
